You do not need an account or any personal details to use the calculators. The figures you enter - sale proceeds, costs, losses and income - are processed in your browser to produce an estimate. We do not store your calculation inputs, results, tax references or any financial data on our servers.
If you contact us through the contact form, we receive the email address and message you provide so we can reply. We use this only to respond to your enquiry.
Where Google Analytics (GA4) is active, Google may process limited technical data including page views, approximate location (country and city level), device type and referrer, with IP addresses anonymised. This helps us understand which pages are useful so we can improve content. Analytics data is held by Google under their own privacy terms. You can opt out using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Where Google AdSense is active, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies and similar identifiers to serve and measure advertising. Advertising cookies are only loaded where you have accepted cookies. You can control personalised advertising through Google's ad settings. Advertising never affects the figures our calculators produce or our editorial guidance.
The site uses a small number of cookies for essential functionality and, where you consent, for analytics and advertising. Named cookies, their purpose and how to control them are listed in full on our cookie policy. You can block or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings.
If you are based in the UK, you have the right to access personal data we hold about you, request correction or erasure, object to processing based on legitimate interests, and request restriction of processing. To exercise these rights, email hello@ukcapitalgainstaxcalculator.co.uk. If you have an unresolved concern about how your data is handled, you can contact the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Contact-form messages are retained for up to 12 months for editorial and operational purposes, then deleted. Analytics data retention follows Google's standard settings (default 14 months). We do not retain calculator inputs at all.
